Ghana Geological Survey Authority says the earth tremors that occurred in parts of the Greater Accra Region on December 12, 2022 were minor tremors and not expected to cause damage”.
A statement issued by the Authority, said tremors were highly felt in places like Dansoman, Mataheko, Weija, and slightly in areas like Legon, Amasaman and Accra Central which are far away from the epicenter.
It asked the public to remain calm and go about their normal businesses.
The statement said’, ”tremors are natural occurrences and therefore difficult to predict”.

According to the statement, the Authority will continue with education and sensitization on the dos and don’ts during such events.
Experts advise during tremors to “DROP, COVER, HOLD ON”
Stay inside.
Drop under heavy furniture such as a table, desk, bed or any solid furniture.
Cover your head and torso to prevent being hit by falling objects.
Hold onto the object that you are under so that you remain covered.
