Government says the two billion dollar agreement with China is purely a barter transaction and not a loan as being speculated by a cross section of the Public.

The agreement has generated lot of controversy with the Minority in Parliament seeking clarification on the deal with the IMF.

.

The government of Ghana and his Chinese counterpart finalised the deal when President Akufo-Addo embarked on a state visit to that country last week.

Speaking after the President returned home from Rwanda, the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin said the barter facility will be used to undertake specific infrastructure by the Chinese and the government will pay with refined bauxite.

President Akufo-Addo on Saturday,  September 8, 2018, participated in the African Green Revolution Forum (AGRF) 2018, held in Kigali, Rwanda, on the theme “Lead. Measure. Grow. Pathways to Turn Smallholder Farmers into Sustainable Agribusiness.”

“Agriculture remains the fuel that powers all our activity in Africa, and, as leaders, we pledged to our food crop farmers, fish farmers and livestock farmers that they will all have the support they deserve from our Governments.” That’s according to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on his Facebook Timeline.
