Ghana is aiming to become West Africa’s production hub, with the President, John Dramani Mahama emphasizing the need for industrialization and private sector growth.

Speaking at a Presidential Dialogue with thePprivate Sector on Monday February 23, in Accra, President Mahama stressed that, Ghana must work towards making this vision a reality.

“We must work to make Ghana, West Africa’s production hub”, he noted.

According to him, the private sector is the engine of sustainable growth, job creation, and innovation and the link to making Ghana West Africa’s production hub. 

The President also urged the private sector to invest in domestic production, create jobs, and prioritize local content highlighting the importance of skills development, maintaining international standards, and engaging in transparent policy dialogue with the government. 

The government has already taken steps to boost industrialization, including the commissioning of the phase two extension of B5 Plus Limited, a steel manufacturing facility in Ningo Prampram yesterday.

The expansion is expected to create nearly 5,000 direct and indirect jobs and increase local production of structural steel sections, grinding media balls, and pre-engineered building systems.

To support this initiative, President Mahama hinted at the 24-Hour Economy policy aimed at boosting productivity and creating jobs.

The policy will provide incentives to manufacturers and businesses that extend their operational hours.
