The Municipal Education Director in the Kwaebibirem Municipality of the Eastern Region, Kingsley Akwaboah, has revealed that the youth in most of the communities in the municipality, especially Akyem Otumi, have abandoned school for menial jobs.
In an interview with GBC, Mr. Akwaboah noted that Akyem Otumi, used to be a community that produced numerous graduates.
However, he lamented that the situation has recently changed as a result of the youth losing interest in education.
Mr. Akwaboah vowed to restore the fortunes of the municipality in terms of education and appealed to parents in the municipality to support initiatives to reverse the negative trend.
