A four-year-old girl, whose name has been withheld has died after she was knocked down by an unknown motorist, whilst crossing the road at Kudzra a suburb of Kpando-Tafi in the Volta Region.
The victim, who was in the company of her friends, could not catch up with the pace when crossing the road and was knocked down by a speeding vehicle killing her instantly. Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP, EffiaTenge who disclosed this to the GNA said the deceased is reported to have accompanied her friends when they were sent on an errand.
She said the driver who committed the unfortunate act did not stop and left the little girl to her fate. DSP Tenge said the victim sustained serious injuries and was confirmed dead at the Margret Marquart Catholic Hospital at Kpando.
She added that the suspect is on a run. Meanwhile, the Police Service is advising parents to take responsibility for their children and desist from leaving them in the care of other minors, who are not able to ensure each other’s safety when the need arises.
