The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) have partnered to recruit 5,000 Fire Service Assistants. This collaboration aims to enhance fire safety and emergency response while providing job opportunities for Ghanaian youth.

The partnership supports the government’s 24-hour economy initiative, which seeks to boost productivity, competitiveness, and job creation. Both ministries and agencies involved expressed optimism about the collaboration’s potential to promote youth employment and national development.

The recruitment will strengthen the GNFS’s operations and contribute to the country’s development, demonstrating the government’s commitment to empowering youth and enhancing fire service capabilities.

At the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed–Mubarak expressed optimism about the partnership, highlighting its potential to promote youth employment and national development.

The Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, Hon. George Opare Addo, thanked the Minister for the Interior for implementing this module and appealed to him to develop other similar modules with the various agencies under the Ministry.

The Chief Executive Officer, YEA, Mr Malik Basintale, and the Ag. Chief Fire Officer, GNFS, Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sarpong, also emphasised the importance of collaboration in achieving their respective mandates.

The recruitment of Fire Service Assistants will strengthen the GNFS’s operations and contribute to the nation’s development. This initiative demonstrates Government’s commitment to empowering the youth and enhancing the operations of the Ghana National Fire Service, especially in light of the recent rampant fire outbreaks across the country.

The GNFS and YEA look forward to working together to implement this partnership and achieve its objectives.
