The Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, has announced firm measures to implement the recommendations of the 2024 Audit Report, stressing that public sector accountability will no longer be optional.

Speaking at a meeting with Chief Directors and audit heads from various ministries, departments, and agencies, the Minister expressed concern about the persistent waste of public funds.

He warned that continuous financial infractions send a wrong signal about the nation and undermine the peace, stability, and confidence that the government is working to maintain.

Dr. Forson said Ghana cannot afford to keep losing scarce resources through avoidable mistakes and mismanagement, insisting that the country deserves better.

He therefore encouraged officials to work harder to reduce financial breaches to the barest minimum. He also reminded them that specialised courts are now available to prosecute those who violate financial laws.

He indicated that discipline in public financial management is not just a requirement but a duty we owe to every Ghanaian.
