The death toll from the collapse of an uncompleted four-storey building at Accra New Town in Accra has risen to three, with 20 people rescued so far, according to the latest updates from emergency authorities.
The incident occurred on Sunday, March 29, 2026, near the Experimental D/A School. The structure was reportedly being used as a makeshift church, where worshippers had gathered at the time of the collapse.
Emergency response teams, including the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), Ghana Police Service, Ghana Ambulance Service and the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), are continuing work at the scene to clear debris and ensure safety.

According to the GNFS, a total of 23 individuals, 15 females and eight males, including three minors, were trapped when the building collapsed. Of these, 20 have been rescued and taken to various health facilities for treatment.
However, three victims, two females and one male, have been confirmed dead. Their bodies have been handed over to the police for preservation and further investigation.
The Public Relations Officer of the GNFS, Alex King Nartey, earlier indicated that rescue teams relied on faint cries from beneath the rubble to locate survivors during the operation.
The Director-General of NADMO, Joseph Bikanyi Kuyon, has also visited some of the injured and facilitated their referral to the 37 Military Hospital for urgent medical care.

Authorities have maintained a security cordon around the site and are urging the public to stay clear to allow emergency teams to work efficiently.
A full investigation is expected to be launched into the cause of the collapse, amid growing concerns over the safety of uncompleted buildings being used for public gatherings.
