The Volta Regional Police Command has arrested another suspect in connection with the recent murder of a mobile money vendor in Aflao.
According to a press release from the Ghana Police Service, the arrest was made in the early hours of May 18, 2025. The suspect, 65-year-old Happy Sewordor, is believed to be the father of Michael Sewornu, who was earlier arrested and remanded into prison custody in relation to the same case.
Police say both individuals are linked to the robbery and killing of Christopher Ahordor, a mobile money vendor, which occurred on April 28, 2025, in Aflao.
During a search of the newly arrested suspect’s home, officers recovered four single-barrel cap guns, a locally made pistol, 14 AAA cartridges, one BB cartridge, and a quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp. They also found drugs believed to be Tramadol.
Investigations revealed that the weapons and drugs were picked up by Happy Sewordor from a house believed to belong to his son, Michael Sewornu.
On Wednesday, May 21, 2025, Happy Sewordor was arraigned before court and remanded into prison custody to assist with investigations. He is expected to reappear in court on June 16, 2025.
The police say investigations are still ongoing.
