The Ghana Air Traffic Safety Electronics Association (GhATSEA) has called off its planned nationwide industrial action scheduled to begin on Thursday, October 30, 2025.
The association had earlier threatened to embark on an indefinite nationwide strike, citing poor welfare conditions, inequitable job placements, unfair salary administration, and unresolved welfare matters dating back more than 15 years.
The announcement calling off the planned strike action was contained in a statement signed by its President, Engr. David Annan Mensah.
His statement explained that executives and members of the association decided to call off the industrial action after fruitful discussions with the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) governing board and management.
It noted that the GCAA governing board and management are putting in place structures aimed at resolving long-standing grievances over poor welfare conditions and management inaction.
“Following constructive engagement with the GCAA governing board and management, we have decided to suspend our planned strike action, which was scheduled to take effect from October 30, 2025.
We appreciate the efforts made by all stakeholders during the discussions and remain optimistic that the ongoing engagements will lead to a lasting resolution of all outstanding issues,” portions of the statement read.
GhATSEA assured the public and all aviation stakeholders of its commitment to maintaining safety and professionalism in the delivery of air navigation services across the country.
“We remain steadfast in our commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety and professionalism in the provision of air navigation services across the country,” it stated.
The association also commended the Acting Director-General of the GCAA, Rev. Stephen Wilfred Arthur, and Acting Deputy Director-General (Technical), Mr. Theophilus Aryee Ago, for their dedication and leadership during the negotiations.
GhATSEA further thanked the media and the public for their patience and understanding throughout the period of industrial tension and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the continued safe and efficient operation of Ghana’s airspace.
