The Ministry of Information has announced that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo engaged in talks with leaders of Organised Labour on Thursday, October 3, 2024 to address issues concerning illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey.
Organised Labour has announced plans for a nationwide strike starting on October 10, as part of its campaign urging the government to impose a state of emergency and halt all forms of small-scale mining.
In an official statement, Information Minister Fatimatu Abubakar reiterated the government’s commitment to working with key stakeholders to support sustainable mining practices and protect the environment.
