The Ministry of Local Government has disbursed GHS23.62 million to assembly members nationwide, covering April and May allowances. Each member received GHS1,300 per month, marking the first tranche of a GHS100 million allocation to support their work. The initiative aims to boost local representatives’ capacity to deliver effective and efficient services.

In line with the Resetting Ghana Agenda, the NDC government has allocated one hundred million Ghana cedis (GH₵100,000,000.00) in the 2025 Budget Statement and Economic Policy, as captured on page 73, section 395, to provide monthly consolidated allowances for all assembly members nationwide.

The objective of this initiative is to enhance the capacity of assembly members by equipping them with the necessary financial resources and logistical support to effectively monitor government projects and programmes within their respective electoral areas.

As part of efforts to fulfill this manifesto commitment, the Ministry of Local Government received the first tranche of GHS25 million on 18 June 2025. Out of this, an amount of GHS23,621,000.00 has been disbursed to all assembly members, representing allowances for the months of April and May 2025.

The Minister for Local Government, Mr. Ahmed Ibrahim, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring timely and adequate transfer of resources and logistics to the metropolitan, municipal, and district assemblies (MMDAs) to promote efficient and effective service delivery at the local level.
