Former Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority, Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, and nine others, have appeared before an Accra High Court.
They have been variously charged with conspiracy to commit crime, to wit money laundering and extortion, and using public office for profit.
They are alleged to have used their various offices to earn a total of GHC280 million for their personal benefit. The seven accused persons have pleaded not guilty to the various charges.
The rest of the accused persons are Jacob Kwamina Amuah, Wendy Newman, Albert Ankrah, Isaac Mensah, Bright Bediako-Mensah, and three other entities, namely Propnest Limited, Kel Logistics, and Kings Energy Limited
The court presided over by Justice Mary Maame Ekue Yanzuh has admitted the accused persons to bail in the sum of GHC2 million cedis each, and they are to provide sureties who are to public servants earning not less than GHC5,000 monthly.
Additionally, the court ordered the accused to provide landed property to justify their bail.
The court has adjourned the matter to August 26, 2025.
