Seven people have died in a road traffic collision involving a timber truck (AS 9304-17) and a tricycle at Asikuma in the Bia West District of Ghana’s Western North Region.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said five of the victims died at the scene, while two others later succumbed to their injuries at Essam Government Hospital.
The Debiso Fire Station received a distress call at 08:55 GMT on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, and a rescue team led by ASTNO Wonder arrived at the scene five minutes later.
GNFS personnel managed scene safety, coordinated the rescue, and carried out recovery operations in collaboration with the Police and Ambulance Services.
The service said the bodies have been handed over to the Police for autopsy and further investigations. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
