Report from Tengmasug, a community in the Binduri district in the Upper East Region, indicates that five people, including children, were shot and killed by unknown gunmen during curfew hours.

‎The incident happened around 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2025, when the attackers stormed a house and opened fire on the occupants who were indoors.

Police sources say five people died on the spot, while one person survived with gunshot wounds and is receiving medical care. Two bullocks belonging to the household were also shot and killed.

The police have confirmed the attack to Channel One News and say investigations are underway to arrest those behind the shooting.

The Assembly Member for the area, Anaba Joseph, described the situation as heartbreaking. He also questioned the effectiveness of the security presence in the community.

“I heard the gunshots around 7, and when I later called, I was told that five people had been shot dead and one was injured. Because of the curfew, I could not go immediately. When I got there at daybreak, the scene was terrible,” he said.

He added that residents have been living in fear, even though security agencies have been aware of rising tensions.

“This issue is out of hand. They say they have intelligence, yet they cannot monitor the whole community. There is even a house where no one is alive—everyone has been shot dead,” he lamented.

Police are urging residents to remain calm as investigations continue.
