Mr Samuel Aboagye Kwaku Adu, Deputy Director-General of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), who tragically lost his life in a helicopter crash on August 6, 2025. His sudden departure has left a deep void in his family, the political landscape, the church, and among all who knew him.



Early Life and Education:
Samuel Aboagye was born on December 23, 1990, in Damongo in the Savannah Region of Ghana. He was the youngest child of the late Mr. Jeremiah Kwabena Aboagye and Madam Ama Ajubi. His father, a former Agric Extension Officer and later Chief of Patakoro, played an influential role in his upbringing.
He began his basic education at the Damongo Cambridge Educational Complex. After the family relocated to Obuasi following his father’s retirement, he continued his education at Victory International Complex in Bekwai and completed his Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) at St. Philip Catholic International School, Tutuka-Obuasi, in 2006. He attended St. Margaret Senior High School from 2007 to 2010.
He earned his first degree from Accra Business School and later pursued a Master of Business Administration between 2020 and 2024.
Christian Faith and Community Engagement:
Samuel was a devoted Christian and an active member of the Church of Pentecost. He was baptized in Damongo in 2005. His faith was a strong guiding force in his life, and he proudly identified with the Church of Pentecost, where his elder brother serves as a pastor. His love for God and active participation in church life were well known and admired.
Professional and Entrepreneurial Career:
Hon. Aboagye was a visionary and enterprising young man with a passion for international business. His first business trip to Germany in 2013 marked the beginning of a career that would take him to the United Kingdom and the United States. During this time, he also worked as a FIFA-licensed agent, engaging in international sports management and building a network of global contacts.
In 2017, he returned to Ghana with the intention of serving his country and his people. His entrepreneurial mindset and leadership qualities led to his appointment as Deputy Director-General of NADMO by President John Dramani Mahama.
Political Career:
Samuel Aboagye was an active member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He contested as the party’s parliamentary candidate for Obuasi East in the 2020 general elections. In the 2024 elections, he won the seat, although an administrative error by the Electoral Commission led to his opponent being wrongly declared the winner. The matter remains before the courts.
Despite the setback, he remained committed to public service and worked diligently in his role at NADMO, showing dedication to disaster response and national development.
Personal Life:
He was married to Abigail Salami and was the father of two daughters. Known to his family as Adu Kwaku, he was deeply loved and respected by those closest to him.

His values of humility, kindness, and service defined his personal life.
Tragic Passing and Legacy:
On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, Samuel Aboagye was aboard a helicopter that tragically crashed while he was on official duty. The news of the crash sent shockwaves through the nation. Though his body remains unidentified, his loss is keenly felt by all who knew and worked with him.
His passing is a significant loss to his family, his church, and the nation. Samuel Aboagye Kwaku Adu leaves behind a legacy of faith, leadership, and patriotism.
