The Ghana National Association of Small Scale Miners is calling for proper budgetary allocation to resource institutions such as the Minerals Commission, EPA and other stakeholders to enforce their supervisory and monitoring role in the fight against galamsey.

The Association also wants MMDCES to be tasked with job specifications towards the fight. This is the only way the fight against galamsey can be won completely.

General Secretary of the Association, Godwin Armah in an interview with Radio Ghana on governments fight against galamsey so far said there is too much politicking going on adding that mandated institutions are not being allowed to exercise their roles effectively.

On President Akufo Addo’s proposition for open dialogue on the menace, Mr. Armah called for engagement with those engaged in illegal mining activities. He said they are the right stakeholders to engage.
