A delegation from the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly (CCMA) has presented an eight-year development plan to the Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, outlining proposed projects for the development of the metropolis.
The delegation included the Mayor of Cape Coast, George Arthur, and the Members of Parliament for Cape Coast North and South, Dr Kwamena Minta Nyarku and George Kwaku Ricketts Hagan, along with other officials.
According to the plan, priority projects include the refurbishment and operationalisation of the John Evans Atta Mills Presidential Library, as well as the rehabilitation of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Hospital.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang disclosed the engagement in a post on her social media pages, noting that discussions focused on the role of government support in making Cape Coast more vibrant and economically viable.
She also highlighted the importance of local fundraising initiatives to complement state support for development projects in the metropolis.
The Vice President urged the Assembly to involve residents more actively in decision-making processes, stressing that community participation is key to fostering ownership of development initiatives.
She further emphasised the need for the Assembly to align its metropolitan development plans with the broader national development agenda.
