In a dramatic turn of events, Charles Cromwell Nanabayin Onuawonto Bissue, the former Secretary to the dissolved Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), voluntarily surrendered himself to the Office of the Special Prosecutor at 11:45 GMT on June 21, 2023.
Mr. Bissue’s surrender comes amidst mounting scrutiny and allegations related to his involvement in illegal mining activities.
In a statement, the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng said upon arrival at the OSP, Mr. Bissue was placed under arrest.
After the interview, Mr. Bissue was released on bail.
Earlier, the OSP said the Special Prosecutor’s Office remains committed to upholding justice and safeguarding the country’s natural resources, ensuring a sustainable future for all Ghanaians.
