The Eastern Regional Director of the Ghana National Ambulance Service, Michael Gaani, has observed that congestion in some towns in the region obstructs the smooth delivery of their services.

This, he said, causes the death of some patients since there are no access roads in these areas when the services of the ambulance are needed.

Mr. Gaani, who spoke with GBC News, said the District Assembly has the onus to facilitate movement of the ambulances, by decongesting the path of the ambulances.

”Funds for fuel provided by the government for the service is not enough to finance all emergency situations,” he explained.

Perhaps that is why demands are made on families of patients to buy fuel to transport the sick to health facilities.

The Eastern Regional Director of the Ghana National Ambulance Service, Michael Gaani appealed for the provision of emergency funds within Assemblies to support the Ambulance Service during emergency situations.
