Government to establish special courts to handle Auditor-General’s report infractions

The government has announced plans to set up special courts to deal specifically with cases that arise from the Auditor-General’s report.

This decision was reached during a meeting held at the Jubilee House between President John Dramani Mahama, the acting Chief Justice, the Attorney-General, and the Auditor-General.

The special courts will handle audit infractions, enforce surcharges and disallowances, and prosecute offences linked to the misuse of public funds.

According to a statement released by the Presidency on Monday, October 20, 2025, the move is part of efforts to strengthen accountability in public institutions, prevent financial misconduct, and ensure that monies owed to the state are recovered without delay.

The initiative forms part of the government’s strong commitment to protecting public resources and promoting transparency in governance.
