The Adenta Circuit Court One has fined Pergringo Braimah Abubakah Sadick, popularly known as “Cyborg”, GH¢24,000 for unlawfully discharging a firearm in public.

The court, presided over by Her Ladyship Angela Attachie, imposed the fine of 2,000 penalty units after the 54-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence on Wednesday, December 31, 2025.

He has since paid the fine in full.

Commissioner of Police Ms Lydia Yaako Donkor, Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), told the media that the court also revoked Sadick’s firearm licence and ordered the confiscation of the weapon to the State.

Sadick was arrested on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Adenta for discharging a firearm during a meet-up with Nigerian musician Asake, in violation of the Firearms Act and the Public Order Act.

COP Donkor said the case underscored the Police Service’s zero tolerance for firearm misuse.
She said that the conviction formed part of intensified efforts to clamp down on the unlawful use and discharge of firearms in public spaces.

She urged members of the public who possessed illegal or unregistered firearms to take advantage of the ongoing Gun Amnesty Programme and surrender them voluntarily to the appropriate authorities.

Touching on other operational successes, COP Donkor said police had arrested a suspect in connection with the GH¢7.5 million daylight robbery at Adabraka, where proceeds from a gold transaction were forcibly taken while being conveyed to a bank.

She said the suspect, Salim Mohammed, also known as “Fariwata”, was arrested on November 20, 2025, at a hospital in Ashaiman after months of intelligence gathering.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect and his accomplices, armed with AK47 rifles, intercepted the victim’s vehicle, fired shots to disperse onlookers, injured the driver, and fled with the cash.
Efforts were ongoing to arrest the remaining accomplices and recover the stolen money.

In a related development, the CID arrested five members of a phone-snatching and armed robbery syndicate operating in Accra and Tema.

Intelligence-led investigations uncovered their operations across Oyibi, Appolonia, Spintex, Airport Residential Area, East Legon Hills, Zenu Atadeka, Ashaiman and Kasoa.

The suspects – Seth Tetteh Noi, also known as “Wonder”; Emmanuel Selasi Monyekor; Abdul Fatao Sameed; Karam Fatao; and Abdul Jamel Mohammed – were arrested between December 24 and December 26, 2025.
Searches at Ashaiman China Mall and Kasoa led to the recovery of a pistol and a pump-action gun believed to have been used in several robberies.

Investigations linked the syndicate to a violent robbery on mourners at Ashaiman Under Bridge, where cash and valuables worth over GH¢200,000 were stolen.

Further intelligence enabled police to foil another planned robbery at Ashaiman China Mall, leading to additional arrests.

COP Donkor said police also arrested eight suspects in connection with a violent residential robbery at Appolonia.

The suspects, aged between 21 and 28, were arrested on November 8, 2025, following investigations into the attack, during which residents were assaulted and rooms ransacked.

Exhibits retrieved included helmets, cutlass, boots and body armour vest.

She also mentioned the arrest of a suspect for impersonating a military officer in parts of Greater Accra, Ashanti and Eastern Regions.

The suspect was found wearing full military camouflage, with two unregistered pistols, live ammunition, a bayonet, handcuffs, and other military-style items retrieved.

Investigations indicated that the impersonation was used to facilitate criminal activities and intimidate the public.
In other operations, police arrested an arms dealer, Abdulai Ibrahim, on December 29, 2025, at Sodom and Gomorrah in Accra while attempting to sell a CZ rifle for GH¢35,000.

The suspect disclosed that he had previously transported seven pump-action guns to individuals at Wulensi in the Northern Region and sourced the weapons from an arms dealer operating around the UTC area in Accra.

COP Donkor said investigations were ongoing to dismantle the wider illegal arms supply network.
She reaffirmed the Police Service’s commitment to protecting lives and property and urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement.

COP Donkor expressed appreciation to police officers for their professionalism and thanked the media for their continued partnership in the fight against crime.
