The Coalition for Democratic Accountability and Inclusive Governance, also known as Citizens’ Coalition has notified the Police of its intention to picket the area outside the office of the Auditor-General from Monday, September 5, 2022.
The notice signed by the Director of Advocacy and Policy Engagement CDD Ghana, Dr. Emmanuel Kojo Pumpuni Asante said, ”the action is in protest of the Auditor General’s blatant refusal to perform his constitutional mandated duty to disallow unlawful public expenditure and surcharge persons implicated in the 2019 and 2020 Auditor General’s report”.
The coalition is made up of 32 Civil Society Organizations including CDD-Ghana, Ghana Integrity Initiative, TUC, Media Foundation for West Africa and Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association, GIBA.
Ten public figures who are also joining the protest include Martin Kpebu, Samson Lardy Anyenini and Prof. Godfred Bokpin.
Speaking to GBC News, Dr. Kojo Pumpuni Asante said, ”the Auditor-General should do more than just document occurrences in the Public Sector.”
