Death of Asantehemaa: Manhyia Palace bans funerals across Asanteman on August 21 for one-week observation

The Manhyia Palace has announced a ban on all funerals across Asanteman on Thursday, August 21, 2025, to mark the one-week observance of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.‎

‎A statement signed by Ambassador Nana Effah-Apenteng, Deputy Chief of Staff, said the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, officially informed the Asanteman Council on Monday, August 11, 2025, about the Queen Mother’s passing. She died peacefully on Thursday, August 7, 2025.‎

‎The one-week celebration will take place at Bogyawe, Manhyia Palace, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The palace urged the public to respect the funeral ban to allow the Asantehene and the people of Asanteman to mourn the late Queen Mother.
