The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has reportedly picked up a car dealer believed to have business dealings with Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.

This was disclosed by the Deputy General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Haruna Mohammed, during a media briefing earlier today. According to Mr. Mohammed, the individual in question is a known vehicle dealer who has, on multiple occasions, sold cars to the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP.

Although the reason for EOCO’s interest in the car dealer remains unclear, the development adds another layer to ongoing investigations into financial dealings associated with prominent political figures.

Mr. Mohammed did not provide further details on whether Chairman Wontumi himself is a subject of investigation, but emphasized that the party is monitoring the situation closely and will cooperate with lawful authorities as necessary.

Efforts to reach EOCO for official comment on the matter have so far proven unsuccessful.
