The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah has announced that to ensure the services of lands reaches the doorsteps of every Ghanaian, the Lands Commission has been instructed to decentralize its operations to all districts across the country.
“It is expected that by the end of this year, every district will have a Lands Commission office. This initiative aims at bringing land services closer to citizens, in reducing congestion and strengthening land governance at the local addition”, he reiterated during the government accountability series.
The Minister assured Ghanaians that the Commission was working towards a turnaround time for the completion of all applications within thirty days as they are very much aware of delays and bureaucracy at the Lands Commission.
He assured Ghanaians that the team is working hard to beat the target set.
“There’s no point in anybody who wants land service and has to travel to have it so this effort is really going to make life very convenient for the people of Ghana, save them a lot of money and bring efficiency to the operations of the Lands Commission’’.
According to him, the Ministry has also established a committee to conduct a comprehensive review of all public land allocations to enhance transparency, accountability and alignment with the national development priorities. The committee is looking into it and is expected to finish work and bring a report by August next month.
