The Management of Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has announced a temporary interruption in water supply to several parts of the north-eastern corridor of Accra following a fire outbreak at the Dodowa Booster Station.
The incident, which occurred over the weekend, forced the complete shutdown of operations at the facility to allow for repair works.
In a statement, management said:
“A team of engineers is currently on site working tirelessly and around the clock to restore the system to its full functionality.”
The Dodowa Booster Station serves thousands of households, institutions, and businesses across several densely populated communities. Areas directly affected include East Legon, Agbogba, Haatso, Atomic, Frafraha, Ashaley Botwe, Adjiringanor, Ashongman, Dome, Adenta, Madina, Oyarifa, and surrounding areas, which are likely to experience low pressure or no flow until repairs are completed.
GWL expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to customers, saying:
“Management of Ghana Water Ltd regrets the inconvenience this unforeseen development may cause and appeals to customers to bear with the situation. We wish to assure the public that every effort is being made to rectify the fault in the shortest time possible and to restore regular water supply.”
To cushion essential service providers, the utility company says it is making alternative arrangements to ensure continued supply of water to schools, hospitals, and other critical institutions.
GWL further advised institutions that may deplete their storage facilities to contact their respective Municipal Chief Executives, Assembly Members, or the Ghana Water Ltd Call Centres on the following numbers: 0207385089, 0207385090, or 0302218240 for immediate support.
