The rains did not cause much havoc in many households in the Ablekuma township in the Ga Central Municipality of Greater Accra. Our Correspondent William Owusu Boateng reports that though the general flooding situation in the area is not as serious compared to some parts of the Metropolis, roads which are untarred have been flooded.
The seven-hour downpour has resulted in the deepening and enlargement of the potholes on the roads, making it difficult for motorists and commuters.
However, in the Joma Paradise enclave, also in the Ga Central Municipality, most homes have been flooded.
A visit to the area saw some victims struggling to remove their belongings from the flood waters. With the area being waterlogged, houses get submerged with the least downpour.
Consequently, some residents whose homes get affected try to perch with friends and relatives, while those putting up buildings temporarily abandon their projects.
The problem is further aggravated by the lack of drains to contain the running water.
A 72-year-old resident, who shared her experience with GBC News said ”every time it rains, the problem of flooding surfaces”.
