A three-day Creation Care Conference held in Accra has ended with the official launch of Ghana’s first-ever National Creation Care Framework, a church-led initiative aimed at equipping Christian leaders to respond biblically and practically to the country’s worsening environmental challenges.

The conference, which ran from July 7 to 9, 2025, was hosted by World Vision Ghana at its Multipurpose Auditorium. It brought together over 100 church leaders, faith-based organisations, and environmental educators to receive training on integrating environmental stewardship into ministry and community life.

The event was organised in partnership with the Akrofi-Christaller Institute, The Church of Pentecost, Challenge Enterprises, and A Rocha Ghana. These partners contributed theological research, technical expertise, and Christian education support toward developing the newly launched framework.

The Creation Care Framework is the product of two years of national consultation and collaborative input. It seeks to guide churches in Ghana on how to incorporate environmental action into discipleship, church programming, and development work—especially for the benefit of vulnerable children and rural communities most affected by climate change.

Ghana is currently grappling with deforestation, erratic rainfall, droughts, and floods, which continue to threaten agriculture, health, and water supply. Children in deprived areas face the harshest impact, including food insecurity, unsafe water, disease exposure, disrupted education, and harmful coping mechanisms like child labour and early marriage.

World Vision Ghana initiated this church-led response to ensure that Christian leaders across the country are empowered to act. Drawing from the biblical creation mandate in Genesis and World Vision’s Empowered World View model, the conference emphasised the need for faith communities to take active roles in environmental advocacy, education, and practical solutions.

By the end of the conference, participants had been trained as the first Creation Care champions and drafted a roadmap to institutionalise the framework within their churches and organisations. The event also facilitated ecumenical dialogue and built stronger partnerships between the church, civil society, and World Vision Ghana in the fight for environmental justice.

World Vision Ghana, as the lead organiser, reaffirmed its commitment to working with the church to protect creation and safeguard the well-being of vulnerable children.
