His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, Ga Mantse, has called for strict enforcement of building regulations following a tragic incident in Accra New Town that led to the loss of three lives.

The Ga Mantse, who visited the site on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, to gather firsthand information on the aftermath of the incident, described the situation as deeply painful, noting that the three victims who died were “mothers, fathers, siblings, and friends,” stressing the need to ensure such incidents do not recur.

“We have to do things well,” he said, emphasising the role of regulatory bodies in enforcing building codes, especially in schools.

He specifically mentioned areas such as Ayalolo and Mamprobi Sempe, urging authorities to immediately inspect school infrastructure to ensure safety standards are met.

“Anything that has to do with children is the reason I am here,” he stated, adding that while education remains important, the safety of children must be prioritised.

The Ga Mantse noted that the situation could have been worse if the incident had occurred with the children around, describing it as a sobering reminder of the need for preventive action.

He called on regulatory institutions to assess structures across schools and other public spaces, insisting that any unsafe buildings must be pulled down and replaced.

“Safety, service, and regulation are key. We must ensure building codes are adhered to at all times,” his Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II stressed.

The Ga Mantse also pledged support for the National Disaster Management Organisation and other agencies to strengthen inspections and enforcement.

He extended condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery, noting that several victims have already been treated and discharged.

“I express my deepest sympathies to all affected families,” he said.

His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II also expressed appreciation to key officials, including the minister, the Army, the Municipal Chief Executive, and the Regional Minister, for their response efforts.
