GTV, the national public service broadcaster of Ghana, has officially launched its Christmas Lighting and Home Decor Festival. The festival opened in the spirit of Christmas, with organisers inviting the general public, especially families, students, and workers, to come together for the four days of festive activities from December 16 to 19, 2025, at the forecourt the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation.

A key highlight is the official Christmas lighting ceremony, scheduled to take place on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. Organisers say, it marks the true beginning of Christmas at GBC.

Throughout the four-day event, visitors will enjoy a wide range of activities, which include serving free breakfast, drinks and meals from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The breakfast menu includes local favourites such as Hausa koko, oats, tea, Milo, bread, eggs, waakye, and kenkey.

The festival also features the Borborbor Champion of Champions competition, where selected Bobobo dance groups compete for public votes. The group with the highest number of votes will win an all-expenses-paid three-day vacation at Maha Beach Resort from December 31, 2025, to January 2, 2026.

As part of the social impact activities, free medical screening will be offered on Tuesday and Wednesday, December 16–17, 2025. This is being done in collaboration with the First American Specialist Medical Center. Members of the public can check conditions such as ear, nose and throat problems, vertigo, joint pains, back pain, and other health concerns at no cost.

Food lovers will also be treated to a regional cooking competition on December 18, at 11:00 a.m., with teams preparing meals from Ghana’s 16 regions. Participating institutions include the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, Volta River Authority, Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Armed Forces, Ghana Revenue Authority, and Ghana Communications Technology University.

The celebration continues later that day with the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Choirs from various institutions, including security services and churches, will perform Christmas carols to mark the season.

The festival will end on Friday with an Artist Night, organised in collaboration with PIVA, featuring live music performances by the Nkyinkyim Band and other artistes from 5:00 p.m. till late.

The GTV Christmas Lighting and Home Decor Festival promises a memorable celebration for all.
