Ghana has concluded the evacuation of its nationals from Israel, bringing home all citizens who requested government assistance, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has confirmed.

The operation, coordinated through Ghana’s embassy in Tel Aviv and in collaboration with regional partners, also included the withdrawal of some diplomatic staff. A limited number of embassy personnel remain in Israel to provide essential consular services.

“Our evacuation operation in Israel has been a success. We have safely evacuated all Ghanaians who expressed the desire to be assisted by the Government of Ghana out of Israel back home,” Mr Ablakwa stated in a social media post.

He added that the government’s decision to retain a small diplomatic presence was aimed at ensuring continued support for Ghanaian nationals who may still require assistance.

The minister expressed appreciation to both Israeli and Egyptian authorities for facilitating the process, highlighting the cross-border coordination required to secure safe passage.

“We are grateful to the Israeli and Egyptian authorities for their cooperation, which made this complex operation possible. The Mahama Administration will continue to prioritise the safety and welfare of all Ghanaians wherever they may be,” he said.

Evacuees arrived safely in Accra, where they were received by government officials. The operation marks the latest in a series of emergency responses by the government aimed at protecting citizens amid heightened insecurity in the region.

Mr Ablakwa gave the assurance that the government will continue to monitor developments closely and stand ready to assist any citizens who may still require support.
