Trenton, New York and Ghana have deepened their international cooperation in emergency management as the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, paid a working visit to the Trenton Fire Department last week.

Hosted by Trenton Mayor, W. Reed Gusciora, the visit is part of a new partnership focused on enhancing fire safety and emergency response capabilities in Ghana.

Under the collaboration, the City of Trenton, together with other municipalities, will provide training support for personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).

The training will focus on international best practices in firefighting and emergency response. Additionally, firefighting equipment will be donated to the GNFS to bolster its operational effectiveness.

Officials say the initiative is expected to enhance the capabilities of Ghana’s fire service and improve response times to emergencies across the country.

In a statement, Mayor W. Reed Gusciora expressed optimism about the partnership, describing it as a “meaningful collaboration that fosters shared knowledge, mutual support, and a commitment to public service.”

Muntaka was accompanied by officials from Ghana’s Permanent Mission in New York, underscoring the government’s commitment to international cooperation in strengthening national institutions.
