The Volta Regional Police Command has destroyed 600 sacks of Indian hemp valued at an estimated GH¢4.2 billion.

A statement issued by the Police said the six hundred sacks “contained a total of forty seven thousand, five hundred and thirty kilograms (47,530kg) with an estimated face value of about GH 4.2 billion Ghana Cedis.”
The narcotics, seized in 2022 as part of a case involving suspects Yao Kwadwo and two others, were burned on Monday, November 17, at the Klefe dumping site in Ho.


The destruction exercise started at 2:30 p.m. and ended around 10:30 p.m. The statement further indicated that the exercise was supervised by state attorneys and exhibits burnt under “strict police, National Security and media presence.”
The Police Command expressed appreciation for the continued support of stakeholders in the fight against drug trafficking and abuse.
