Ghana Publishing Company Limited celebrates 60th anniversary

The Ghana Publishing Company Limited (GPCL) has marked its 60th anniversary with a grand durbar under the theme, “60 Years of Publishing Excellence: Honouring the Past, Building the Future.”

Acting Managing Director, Nana Kwasi Boatey, Esq., in his keynote address, praised the staff’s ability to thrive amid challenges. He acknowledged the company’s achievements and reflected on the journey that has brought GPCL to its current position.

“The company in 60 years has done a lot, and certainly, it calls not only for celebration but also for introspection,” he noted on Friday, May 2, 2025.

Nana Kwasi Boatey, Esq., expressed admiration for the staff’s resilience in changing times.

He pledged to build on the successes of his predecessors and take the company to greater heights, emphasising that there are “sleeping giants” within the organisation that need to be awakened.

“Everything we’re doing here is to make sleeping giants wake up,” he said, expressing confidence in the staff’s efficiency and effectiveness.

For his part, the President of the Osu Stool Council and Chairperson of the event, Prof. Nii Nortey Owoo III, commended GPCL’s commendable work and encouraged the staff to continue striving for excellence to ensure a better future.

The company was established on 9th March 1965 under L.I. 413, and later amended by L.I. 672 on 11th December 1970, to take over the functions of the Government Printing Department and the administration of the government’s free textbooks scheme.
