Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has revealed that visa applications to the country will now be processed within just five working days, significantly faster than the previous four-to-six-week timeframe.

This immediate policy shift is part of the Mahama administration’s broader agenda to position Ghana as a prime destination for both tourism and investment.

“In his January 7th address, President Mahama declared that Ghana is open for business.

At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, we are committed to turning that vision into action,” Ablakwa shared in a Facebook update on Wednesday, May 21.

To support the swift rollout of this initiative, the Ministry has allocated sufficient resources to Ghana’s diplomatic missions worldwide.

Despite the accelerated processing time, the Minister cautioned that this does not mean automatic visa approval.

“A decision whether to approve or deny will be made within five working days,” he clarified.
