Chief Executive Officer of PEDLO Energy, Peter Debrah, has recommended to government to consider selling shares of Tema Oil Refinery on Ghana Stock Exchange to raise funds to revamp the refinery.

He said government should offer 70% shares to the public and own the remaining 30% shares in order to have a role to place in the affairs of the refinery.

According to him, when this occurs, TOR, will become a limited company, allowing the stakeholders to elect their own CEO to guide the company’s operations. When this occurs, the corporation will become private property, allowing the stakeholders to elect their CEO to guide the company’s operations.

Speaking in Accra, Mr. Debrah bemoaned the politicisation of the facility.

He said if the operation and management of the refinery is devoid of politics, it will be run effectively to support national development.

Mr. Debrah reiterated the fact that a functioning refinery will help reduce the cost of fuel at the pumps.
