Deputy Minister of Communication and Digitalization, Ama Pomaa Aboagye, says the government will soon review the Data Protection Law, ACT 843, to include current happenings within the Internet space.

She cited the Internet being used for various activities including artificial intelligence as the reasons for the review.

According to Madam Pomaa Aboagye, the law has been in existence for more than ten years and needs to be reviewed to reflect current times.

She commended the Data Protection Commission, DPC, for complimenting government’s effort to sensitize the public to data protection.

She was speaking at the DPC Chief Executives Breakfast meeting in Accra, held to climax the Data Protection Week celebration.

Executive Director of the DPC, Patricia Adusei-Poku, advised stakeholders to dispose data in the right way to ensure the privacy of all data collected are safeguarded and protected.
