The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that the Embassy of Ghana in Tehran, Iran, will resume operations on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. The embassy was temporarily closed on June 16, 2025, to ensure the safety of staff amidst heightened tensions between Iran and Israel.

In a statement issued on September 2, 2025, the Ministry confirmed that it has taken the decision to reopen the mission following an improvement in the security situation in Iran.

It assured the public that it will continue to closely monitor the situation to guarantee the safety of both embassy staff and the Ghanaian community residing in Iran. The Ministry reiterated the government’s commitment to protecting the safety of its citizens abroad and promised to provide periodic updates as needed.
