The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has honoured a group of distinguished journalists and media contributors for their significant roles in advancing press freedom in the country.
The awards, divided into four categories, celebrated individuals and organizations that have shown unwavering commitment to journalism and media development in Ghana.
In the Media Developers category, the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) stood tall for its resilience and contribution to promoting Ghana’s democracy.
A citation read: “As Ghana’s national broadcaster, GBC has remained a reliable partner in the dissemination of news and national development programming, and has consistently collaborated with the GJA to execute its public interest mandates, media awards, and commemorative events.”

Furthermore, GBC has on many occasions covered programmes and activities of the GJA live and offered unfettered access to the Association in that regard.
The Ghana Journalists Association said it is in recognition and appreciation of this enduring partnership and contribution to media development in Ghana that it is honouring the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation on the commemoration of World Press Freedom Day.
Director-General, Professor Amin Alhassan, was present to receive the recognition on behalf of GBC.
