The Greater Accra Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has taken fire safety education to the streets of Accra as part of activities to mark International Firefighters’ Day.
The street education initiative aims to foster safer communities, prevent fire outbreaks, and end frequent attacks on firefighters.

The program was organized in line with the locations of various fire stations under the Greater Accra Regional Command.
For fire stations within the central district, the campaign started at Korle-Bu, moved through High Street, and ended at the Accra City Fire Station at Makola, where various fire equipment were displayed.
The Greater Accra Regional Fire Commander, ACFO I Rashid Nisawu, urged the public to support firefighters in carrying out their duties effectively rather than confronting or attacking them.

Observed annually on May 4, International Firefighters’ Day honors the selfless dedication and invaluable contributions of firefighters worldwide.
The week-long celebration, on the theme “Appreciating Our Heroes: Say No to Assault on Firefighters and Fire Truck Vandalism,” will end on May 5, 2025.
