The Ghana Gold Board has announced that two of the four men wanted for their alleged roles in a major gold smuggling case have been arrested and brought before the High Court in Accra.

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), in a Facebook post on Monday, October 20, 2025, confirmed that Abdul Karim Alhassan and Sadique Abubakar, who were earlier declared wanted, have been taken into custody after voluntarily turning themselves in.

According to a statement from GoldBod, the two are facing charges including gold smuggling, conspiracy to smuggle gold, and transporting gold without a license.

The court has granted them bail, but they remain in lawful custody as they are yet to meet the bail conditions. Proceedings are expected to continue once the terms are fulfilled.

Meanwhile, two other suspects — Mohammed Afsal Puthalan and Mohammed Refeeq Nandoli, also known as Salam — are still on the run.

Authorities have urged the public to assist in locating the remaining suspects by providing any useful information to the Ghana Police Service or GoldBod.

A bounty of One Million Ghana Cedis (GHS 1,000,000) remains on each of the two fugitives for credible information leading to their arrest.
