Ghana has officially inaugurated the Gold Board Tribunal, a new body established to handle appeals on decisions made by the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod).
At a ceremony held at the Ministry of Finance, Finance Minister Dr Ato Forson swore in the first members of the tribunal:
- Chairperson: Biadala Mortey Akpadzi
- Member: Hamidu Mariam
- Member: Justin Pwavra Teriwajah

The tribunal, created under the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025, is mandated to review disputes on licensing and matters referred from GoldBod’s Dispute Resolution Committee. Its rulings will carry the same legal weight as High Court judgments, with further appeals possible at the Court of Appeal.
Dr Forson urged the tribunal to promote fairness, integrity, and transparency in Ghana’s gold sector, stressing the need to strengthen confidence and accountability in the industry.
