Government increases base pay to 23% from January 2024

Government has granted a 23 percent salary increment to Public Sector workers for the year 2024. This was announced by the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Ignatious Baffuor Awuah after a meeting with Organized Labour yesterday, November 14, 2023.

The salary increment will cover January to June, 2024 while another increment of two percent will be implemented between July to December, 2024.

Speaking to the Media after the negotiation, Mr Baffuor Awuah said the Base Pay will be increased by 23 percent across board from January to June 2024, this amount will be re-adjusted by 25 percent increase from July to December 2024.

Mr. Baffuor Awuah announced an increase in the daily minimum wage from GHC14.88 Pesewas to GHC18.15 Pesewas.

TUC Secretary General, Dr Anthony Yaw Baah, said this is the most difficult negotiation. He called on government to stick to the schedule of payment.
