The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has announced that the government has paid $29.5 million owed to contractors working on the Suame Interchange Project.
He made this known during an inspection tour of the project on Tuesday, April 28, where he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completing ongoing road projects inherited from previous administrations.
According to the minister, the government has also approved an additional GH₵3 billion to speed up construction and improve the quality of work on the Suame Interchange.
“We are still back on schedule to complete the interchange itself. We are not taking a cedi out of the interchange project; we are rather adding GH₵3 billion to enhance it,” Mr Agbodza said.
He expressed confidence that the project will be completed within the planned timeline. He noted that while the entire interchange is expected to be finished by the end of 2028, some sections of the project will be completed earlier.
“The section on which we are standing now will be completed by the end of this year,” he added.
The Suame Interchange Project is a major infrastructure development aimed at improving traffic flow and reducing congestion in the Suame area. Government officials say the latest funding and debt clearance will help accelerate progress and ensure timely delivery.
