The Ministry of the Interior has imposed a curfew on Bole Township and its surrounding areas in the Savannah Region, effective Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am until further notice. The decision follows advice from the National Security Council, citing ongoing chieftaincy disputes that pose serious security threats in the area.

In an official statement, the Ministry urged chiefs, opinion leaders, youth, and residents of Bole to exercise restraint and adopt peaceful, non-violent approaches to address the challenges facing the community.

The statement also outlined strict measures to be observed by all residents, including:

  • A total ban on carrying firearms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons. Anyone found violating this rule will face arrest and prosecution.
  • A prohibition on more than one person riding on motorbikes throughout the day.
  • A ban on wearing war regalia at any time.

The Ministry emphasized that these measures are necessary to safeguard lives and maintain peace in the area. Authorities are appealing to residents to cooperate fully to restore calm and prevent escalation of conflicts.

The Interior Minister concluded by urging all parties to resolve disputes through dialogue and lawful means rather than violence.
