The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Agbodza, has revealed that the government is ready to pay GH₵ 4 billion out of the GH₵ 21 billion owed to contractors working on the Ofankor-Nsawam road project.

‎Speaking during a meeting with the contractors on Monday July 8, 2025, the Minister said the government remains committed to completing ongoing road projects and has begun steps to settle debts owed to contractors to speed up progress.

‎Following discussions with the contractor handling the Ofankor-Nsawam stretch, Hon. Agbodza revealed that the contractor has pledged to return to the site immediately. The contractor has also promised to improve the road within six weeks to reduce the daily struggles faced by commuters.

‎The Minister urged drivers and passengers using the road to remain patient and cooperate with workers during the construction. He admitted the works may cause some temporary delays but assured that the final outcome will benefit all road users and improve the country’s road network.
