GRA readies to implement tax strategy for informal sector employees

Commissioner General of Ghana Revenue Authority, Ghana Revenue Authority, GRA, Julie Assiam says it will soon roll out a modified tax strategy. The strategy which is currently working will help to bring in more informal sector workers into the tax net.

Madam Assiam disclosed this when she appeared before the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament.

Madam Assiam disclosed that the merger of Tax Identification Numbers,TIN, and the Ghana card has improved tax base and collection.

Also at the Public Accounts hearing in Parliament, Commissioner in charge of Domestic Tax Revenue Division of GRA, Appenteng Gyamerah said so far the implementation of e-commerce taxation has attracted more than 400 registered taxpayers.

He said a monitoring system is now being created to ensure that transfers of cash, documents and taxes are appropriately filed.
