The Office of the National Chief Imam has warned Trasacco Company Limited and other private estate developers to immediately halt all encroachment activities on land designated for an educational complex in the Borteyman area of Tema West Municipality.
This comes after government intervention led to the successful reclamation of the land, following years of alleged encroachment by Trasacco Limited.
According to the Acting Chairman of the Council of Zongo Chiefs, Alhaji Saddiq Gimala, the situation has stalled the construction of the planned educational facility and created security risks for a nearby basic school, with frequent attacks reported from land guards.
Addressing some journalists at the site, Alhaji Saddiq Gimala, speaking on behalf of the Chief Imam, expressed gratitude to the President for facilitating the reclamation of the land.
“This parcel of land was allocated to the Muslim community in Tema for the purpose of an ultra-modern university complex. Due to a lack of delay, the land was encroached. And we’re warning everybody, including institutions, to stay clear of the land and not to encroach on the land anymore.
The said land is under the leadership of the National Chief Imam (Chief Imam is Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu),” the Acting Chairman for the Council of Zongo Chiefs said.
