Head Teacher detained by Police over drowning of School Pupils in Saboba

The Saboba District Police Command has detained the Head Teacher of the St. Charles Lwanga R/C J.H.S, Emmanuel Gyija, whose rice farm some pupils of the school were returning from when they drowned in the Oti river.
A source told GBC News that Mr. Gyija reported himself to the Saboba District Director of Education and was subsequently sent to the Police Station where he was detained.
He will be arraigned before court on Monday, November 15, 2021.
Meanwhile, the Police are making preparations to release the bodies of the deceased to the families for burial.
The Headteacher of the school, Emmanuel Gyija, is alleged to have sent 30 of his School Pupils to work on his farm. However, on their return, the two canoes they were transporting themselves, collided and capsized.
Fifteen of kids were able to swim to safety.
A search party has retrieved eight of the bodies.
